Because of all the power outages, school has been cancelled through this Friday, the 19th. The girls are loving that part of the storm. I hope they feel that way when they have to make up the missed weather days.
Because they are home all day, they both have been able to help with cleanup projects. They helped clean up at the Pierces' golf course, a few homes in the area, and also at the church. All of the youth in our ward are participating in these service projects, which is great! The youth have also gotten together quite a bit to just hang out and enjoy not being in school.
After spending most of our free time helping others with clean up and repairs, we finally got around to cleaning up the mess in our yard today. We have no idea when the debris will be picked up and hauled away, but it is now off the lawn and bagged and stacked on the curb. It is nice to finally have a clean yard again!
When we were out gathering up the branches, Dakota wanted to help too! Unfortuna
tely her idea of helping was to pull the branches off the pile we were making and drag them across the lawn. It was cute, but got to be annoying!
The tree that lost it's top...

and broke our gate...

and made this mess in our side yard.
The side yard was quite a project because we had to pull it out into the front yard in order to deal with it. But we conquered the mess and are now able to walk to the back yard again. Can't wait until Ike is just a memory!
