Memorial Day pranks and fun
Our memorial day was a good one, although it started way too early. At 1 am our doorbell rang and we discovered it had been wrapped courtesy of some of the youth and former youth of our ward. I had worked until midnight, and hadn't gone to bed yet so at least they didn't wake me up. But it was still pretty annoying, especially since they did a good job. We left it alone until morning, which turned out not to be the best decision as the sprinklers in the flower beds ran during the night. The wrapping did give us the opportunity to try a new way we had heard about of cleaning up it up--lighting it on fire. Rachel and I did it, and it was actually pretty cool--although a little unnerving watching the fire creep up the trees. It worked pretty well, and were were able to clean up the majority of the mess (leaving just enough to hopefully deter repeat attacks).
Later that morning, we went and saw the new Indiana Jones movie. We then went over the the McLemores for the evening. We ate, the girls swam and then Greg and I played Ticket to Ride with Mike and Alicia while the girls played Guitar Hero. It was a fun, relaxing day--one that makes me think we need more holidays!

Great changes with my job
We recently bid on new shifts at work, and beginning June 1st I'll have Thursday and Fridays off. I am so excited to actually have a weekend night off! And today I received confirmation that my 30 hr part time shift has been converted to a 20 hr shift. It won't be effective until the next bid in September, but I can't wait to have a 4 hr shift instead of a 6 hr one. My job just keeps getting better!

Cy Creek Prom
Cy Creek Prom was tonight and both Rachel and Melissa attended. Rachel went with Chris White. They had a group of 6 couples who all gathered at Chris' house for pictures. All of the girls were beautiful. 5 of the couples then went to dinner together at Hido Grill & Sushi where their dinner was cooked at their table. They had a great time and thought the chef was amazing.Prom group

Melissa went to prom with Erin Martinez, one of her friends, who didn't have a date. Erin was not going to attend, and Melissa told her that that she had so much fun at her prom and that she thought she really should go. So Erin asked if Melissa would go with her. Melissa agreed and they went and had a blast!

After Prom, the school sponsors "Senior Night After Prom", an activity where the party goes on all night. This year it was held at Dave and Busters where everyone played games, ate, and participated in drawings for some great prizes. None of them won anything, but they had a great time and came home very, very tired!

Joe's wild ride

Here is an account of the wreck Joe took on his bike today:
I had my own roller coaster ride last Friday. We were cutting through a park and going down a steep embankment. I decided I was going to coast down it without braking so I could go fast. I immediately thought, I should brake and then that I should cut straight through the grass, but I ignored those promptings and tried to stay on the sidewalk. Long story short, I hit something and lost my balance. I'm ok, but I put a hole in one of my suit pants and scraped my elbow. So the moral of the story is don't do anything stupid (that's a President Hinckley quote he said to some missionaries) and listen to the Holy Ghost.
It is always good when the Lord protects us even when we ignore the promptings of the spirit. He did tear his pants, but he wasn't hurt--so that is a blessing. That Missionary Mall guarantee just paid off--although I must admit we had to use it a lot sooner into his mission than I had expected. We sent them the picture of the tear, and then sent him a new pair as soon as the had the right size in stock. That a great system!
